The First Street Redevelopment is a mixed-use, multi-phase, public/private partnership project encompassing five downtown blocks. The project includes:
Four multi-story, mixed-use buildings
Relocation and expansion of Blue Goose Market
Two public plazas
Two parking garages with 500+ public stalls
Bi-level riverwalk extension
New street level store front spaces for retail, service businesses and restaurants.
First Street Milestones
First Street East Plaza expansion and riverwalk extension under construction. Set to be complete mid-May.
Plans approved for building 8, a 3 story commercial building at the NE Corner of Rt. 31 & Illinois St.
Plans under review for building 7B, for a 4-story, 21 unit apartment building.
2019- 2020 Phase III building #2 with first floor commercial and upper level residential use under construction.
Phase III Building #3 completed (includes Sterling Bank, with office and residential uses on upper floors).
Phase III Building #1 and public parking deck were completed
Construction begins on Phase III of the project.
City adopts new Comprehensive Plan that includes a sub area plan for Downtown.
Phase I and II which included public infrastructure improvements, relocating Blue Goose Market, and a parking garage was completed in 2009.
Development plans approved for a five phase redevelopment project.
