Last week, the City of St. Charles participated in Economic Development Week by announcing the release of the 2020 Economic Development Annual Report. The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) created Economic Development Week in 2016 to increase awareness of local programs that that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere.
The report was presented to the City's Planning & Development Committee on Monday, May 10. Before walking through a summary of the report, City Staff identified the following report goals that were created by the Community & Economic Development Department:
Create a graphic and engaging report that is both educational and can be used for marketing
Summarize departmental data into a single report
Promote positive stories of economic development activity
Submit for the IEDC Award in Excellence competition
The report provides demographic information, updates on over a dozen development projects, summaries of historic preservation and housing efforts, grant programs and economic incentives, and more.
